Thankfully I Found the Calvert Curriculum

Visitor Review:
I had to pull my child out of public school mid-year fourth grade because of serious education and social issues at the school. Jumping into home schooling mid-year was frightening for me.

Thankfully, I found Calvert. We love it! I have had two friends who started home schooling an older child after I did, and based on my recommendation, they are both using Calvert.

Yes, it is expensive, but they do have a 15% military discount, and offer various other discounts through the year. We have completed the 4th grade, and the boxes for 5th grade arrived today.

We use the ATS program because my daughter needs the accountability and the encouragement of someone outside the family who doesn’t tell her she is doing a good job “because they have to!”

The letters from her teacher following her tests are wonderful, and are very encouraging. They gently point out areas where she has had difficulty and praise her for things she has done well.

In addition to the ATS there are educational advisers open to everyone who are available through on-line chat or on the phone to answer any questions or to offer encouragement to the parent when needed.

Calvert gives you a year to complete the grade, so it isn’t hard to say lets spend some time going into depth on this subject, and then catching up and speeding through the things that don’t interest your child as much. Because my child is academically gifted, this happens a lot, but the material is easy to supplement and extension activities are often included in the Learners Guide Manual.

I have been very happy with Calvert, and intend to use it through 8th grade. I just hope we can find a high school program we like as well as we do this one!
