I wasn’t intending to purchase any art curriculum, but my 3rd grade daughter seemed to really enjoy drawing.
When Mark Kistler’s online membership was offered as a special through Homeschool Buyers Coop last fall, I decided it was worth it to give it a try. I hoped it would give her better instruction that what I can give, since drawing was becoming an interest of hers.
My daughter has loved going online whenever she has extra time, to watch Mark’s videos & learn to draw various characters or subjects. The videos are very self explanatory so she can always do these independently. I appreciated the art terms that Mark has available in his program so my daughter can also learn some of those, besides enjoying the drawing. Mark’s instruction includes shading, foreshortened circles & squares, depth perspective, horizon line, etc.
We sometimes have some trouble navigating through the site, but nothing too major. I also wish we could get some drawings that are more “serious”. Most of them are more “cartoony”. Nonetheless, my daughter has really enjoyed the website and just has fun practicing her drawing and adding growth in that area.
