5 Easy Ways to Keep A Clean House While Homeschooling

BlogNo CommentsNovember 8, 2016Nicole Williams

How does anyone keep a clean house with little children running around all the time? Much less, keeping a clean house while homeschooling? Well, let’s start by saying it isn’t easy! We’re hoping this article makes it a little easier with our 5 easy ways to keep a clean house while homeschooling.

The kids must be involved

You simply cannot do it by yourself. In fact, the more your children are involved in helping the more realistic it will be to keep your home tidy. At least tidy to an extent! But their involvement needs to start even before the “clean-up routine”. Teach your kids to clean up after their spills, pick up behind themselves, and keep their own areas tidy. This also teaches them a very important life-skill.

Clean up later in the day

Starting the day with a clean home is a nice idea but if we’re being practical, it won’t last! Chances are your home will be messy again by the end of the day and you’ll be starting all over the next morning. Instead, move your chores to later in the afternoon like after lunch or after dinner. Your home will stay clean longer and you can start with that same “clean slate” in the morning.

You need order

No matter what kind of day you are having, you need to organize your day. Some kind of order is better than no order and will ensure you’ve carved out time for cleaning. The only way to keep a clean home, even just moderately clean, is to actually clean. If you jam-pack your day with other things and don’t leave any time to clean it won’t be long before you’re playing catch up with the household chores.

Chores vs. Habits

What is the difference between chores and habits? Well, that depends on you. Starting chores when your children are younger develop habits. Good habits. Chores turn into life-skills, which turn into organization, cleanliness, respect, and more. Chores are also a big life-saver for parents too. Training kids to keep up with their daily chores means less for the parents to keep up with.

Hire a housekeeper

That’s right, we said it! If your budget can afford it, you can always try to hire a housekeeper. Sometimes we simply need the help and a housekeeper will certainly be a lot of help. Simply kick back and allow someone else to clean.
