Horizons (published by Alpha Omega) takes the tears out of math for us.
The lessons are broken down into manageable “chunks”. The workbooks have lots of kid appeal…and if you buy the whole kit (I recommend it for grades past K or 1st-depending on your mathematical self confidence)there is plenty of extra help in the form of teaching tips and extra worksheets.
The thing I appreciate most about these books is that they don’t underestimate the student. “Advanced” concepts i.e. fractions, pre-algebra, geometry are introduced in simpler forms very early on. This prevents us from hitting the proverbial wall when we get to those subjects in more depth.
I will never use another mathematics curriculum for my little ones.
