Visitor Review:
I wonder how long Paula (review above!) actually used SOS!! Like Martie, I have also used this curriculum for 10 years with my three daughters. They are all high school graduates now. They are living proof that this review is not accurate.
All three performed well above national norms on standardized tests and on ACT/SAT college entrance tests! All three have gone on to college. All three have done exceptionally well in college. My oldest (and only graduate so far) graduated with honors (and a 4.0) from a large state university.
That is certainly not the sign of a student who was educated from 8th-12th grade using a curriculum that is 2 years below state standards!!! That’s just ridiculous to say.
Take a look at the scope and sequence on the AOP website and compare it to the scope and sequence of any curriculum. It is above some….and certainly on par with most others. I know of very few that are beyond AOP curriculum in it’s scope.
The comment about the “big words covering up for a lack of academic excellence” is just ridiculous! The language arts program is one of the areas where SOS excels. Again…the proof of that has been evidenced in my children.
All three tested out of 100 level language/composition courses in their freshman year in college. So, in a nutshell, from firsthand experience, I couldn’t disagree with this review more!!!
