I homeschool my three children using the ACE curriculum. My children are in grades 6, 9, and 12. I have been using ACE for 4 years now. I am elated at the progress my children have achieved. My son has a mild form of autism and suffers from ADHD, as well. He struggled significantly in public school. When he was introduced to the ACE curriculum via private school, his struggles seemed to decrease. His confidence grew, comprehension improved, and overall success rate increased. As for my daughters, who both tested gifted before leaving public school, ACE has helped to make them more well-rounded. The Word Building PACEs acquaint them with a wide array of words necessary to help them become more articulate.
ACE keeps my planning tasks at a minimum because the curriculum is strategically planned according to the child’s grade level. Even though I am a seasoned/retired teacher, the curriculum makes it easy for anyone who wants to teach their child.
I love that the PACEs are lightweight and easy to travel with, my family and I are constantly on the go. I like the midway scoring points that alert me to check for comprehension. Best of all, I adore the self -tests that allow me to gauge my children’s learning before the actual assessment.
I have my own grading scale; I don’t require 80 % passing. My grading scale is closely related to that of a public school’s. My scale does allow a student to fail because failure is a part of life. I grade all assignments myself. I do not like the fact that students will see the answers and then self-correct. Lastly, ACE is affordable! I don’t have to pay for the entire curriculum upfront. I like being able to order the material on an as need basis. This will surely be a plus to any parent.
