I am a mother of 6. My children are ages 10,9, 7, 5, 3, and 1. After trying many curriculums that work with everybody, I have learned the following: My oldest son works better with tangible workbooks, one-on-one, with his Dad. He is using LifePacs. Switched on Schoolhouse didn’t work with him, but works with my more easy learners- my 9 year old girl and 7 year old brother who won’t scold the computer if they get something wrong (as my oldest did). My two who like SOS really enjoy the games. My 9 year old enjoys the journal, periodic table, and the ability to “email” Mom. Lastly, SOS takes a lot of pressure off me, but at the same time, it’s important to provide plenty of literature- readers and read-alouds for a well-rounded education for any curriculum used.

Hi, thanks for viinsitg my blog! I’m so glad to find someone else in my shoes…just taking up homeschooling a special needs child and all.I’m very very glad for the weekend too! My husband is away, so I’m letting the kids who are home have lots of free time and I’m organizing and filing and cleaning like a madwoman today; all gearing up for a busy week ahead!I lived in Concord briefly back in the early 70’s, when I was in 4th grade. I went to Clayton Valley Elementary School, is it still around? I still miss the gorgeous view we had of Mt. Diablo!
