We started Sarah in A Beka kindergarten when she was 4. She is 7 years and 7 months now and is in the 1st quarter of her 4th grade.
While we have found A Beka to be intensive and requiring a strong commitment on the part of both student and parent (especially the parent when children are younger), it is worth it in the long run. We think Sarah is getting a much better education.
A Beka uses class videos made at the A Beka Academy in their curriculum and Sarah answers questions and completes her speed drills faster than most of the kids in the videos. And considering those children are 2 years older than she is, we are very happy.
While it has been a struggle at times dealing with a young child to do this much school work, we have found that hard work, strong commitment, understanding, patience, breaks for play time and lunch, days off once in a while, social interaction with other kids, all exercised in faith and daily prayer to be the keys to our success so far.
